Child Custody
The custodial award of a minor child determines both the physical and legal custody of that child. Physical custody refers to where and with which parent the child or children are to live. Legal custody refers to how decisions about the child’s education, religion, medical issues, and participation in activities are made.

Beginning on January 1, 2008, all of the aspects of caring for children have been combined into "parenting plans" (sometimes referred to as custody and visitation), which are now required in every divorce granted in Georgia.
